Drop in to Bees & Honey Eumundi on Saturday April 21 if you're in the area...The honey bees in our observation hive are having a rest as they are requeening at the moment. Our old girl that was a 2016 queen has passed recently ☹
The stingless native bees will be in the shop for viewing and a taste of their honey on Wednesday and Saturday this week. So pop in and learn about our smaller friends 🐝

My latest design. "OctoFlowTree". Ten layers of Octagonal frames most accuratley recreates the natural shape of a hollow tree which the native bees thrive in. The bees will build their colony up through the hollow area. There's a tube that runs the full height of the tree hollow which the bees fill with honey pots. For easy honey collection you open the top lid and run a spear down the honey tube pearcing the honey pots, then simply turn the tap and the native bee honey flows out. # Edit .. yeap .. This is an April 1 post ;-) .. While setting up for the photos i thought it sounded rediculous enough, but after a while i thought, it might actually work, except the volume is huge and you'd mash up quite a few bees in the honey tube. ;-) ...
